Illinois State Child & Adult Food Program

To be accepted into this program, we must first meet stringent standards for nutrition and quality of food. Our menu was designed by nutritionists and meals are geared to the children's nutritional needs.

Family Style Meals
Lunch is served family-style with an adult and children at each table. As part of the learning experience, children set the tables for lunch. During lunch, children and adults may converse about their special interests, the food they are eating, or daily activities. Adults serve as models for social behavior. Children learn proper etiquette and manners.

Teaching Hygiene
Teachers should be constantly on the alert to opportunities to integrate the principles of health into the daily routines of their program. Learning basic health facts and hand washing techniques are skills that the children will need for life.

Nutrition Education
Breakfast, lunch and a snack are provided for children in the full-day classrooms. Nutrition education is incorporated in the daily activities.
